Cotinus coggygria Golden Spirit

Description

Cotinus coggygria 'Golden Spirit' is a unique form of the 'Smoke Bush' which forms a medium sized shrub of a broadly upright habit. The round leaves are a brilliant golden yellow throughout the summer and are accompanied by the usual plumes of smoke-like flowers that other varieties of the species show. It also features the vivid autumnal colours of coral, orange and red. It prefers a well drained soil in full or part sun and should reach 2.5m x 2m in about 10 years. The leaves do NOT scorch in direct sunlight unless exceptionally dry conditions prevail, in fact the leaves go more golden and translucent the more sun it receives.
