Description
Ophiopogon spp. is native to Korea and Japan. All have a fairly low growing habit and the leaves are somewhat finer on this species than other species. The flowers are hidden and insignificant since the plant is grown for its foliage and groundcover effect. Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Arabicus only reaches a height of 10 inches and the most striking feature is it's rare black foliage. Black Mondo Grass is an excellent plant to add garden interest or add accent to a flowerbed. It is best grown in partial shade to shady conditions.
